About Ron Lauderdale

Ron is a Christian Counselor in Knoxville, TN with the knowledge and experience working with people from many backgrounds. He is also experienced in working within the Mental Health Center systems, in church settings and in private practice.


Ron Lauderdale earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work (M.S.S.W.) from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, as well as his Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. He attended Tennessee School on Substance Abuse at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. He has accumulated over 300 hours of C.E.U.’s in a wide range of psychiatric areas. He holds a License in Social Work (L.S.W.) and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (A.A.C.C.).

Work Experience

Ron served as Assistant Director in the Day Treatment Program at Helen Ross McNabb Mental Health Center in Knoxville, TN, working in that setting for 9 years. He held a position as Alcohol and Drug Specialist at Overlook Mental Center in Knoxville, TN. At Knoxville Psychiatric Group in Knoxville he was a Group Counselor for 11 years. He was on staff for 8 years at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN. Ron created the Divorce Recovery Program for Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN, trained the facilitators, and was the lecturer for the program for 12 years. Ron is currently Clinical Director of Christian Counseling Center of Knoxville and brings over 40 years of counseling experience to the Practice.

Professional Activities

Some of the research in which Ron has been involved is Assistant to Pat Marick, Ph.D., in a research project regarding movement and dance with psychiatric clients; National Institute of Mental Health (N.I.M.H.) research related to genetics and family history related to subjects diagnosed with schizophrenia; Wrote and developed a Divorce Recovery Program for community participation in a workshop setting; Trained personnel for involvement as facilitators; Lectured and implemented the program at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Knoxville, TN. Another important aspect of Ron’s practice is his involvement with New Life Ministries, a syndicated radio and television program that airs through the United States. He is a New Life Network Counselor supporting that ministry. New Life Ministries has referred people in need of counseling who have called in to their program to him since he began with them over 10 years ago.
